Figure 6.15 illustrates the Sandbox high-level stack view. In the current literature, several approaches to a secure computing environment are presented. Trusted Computing Platforms contain a trusted area of hardware, controlled software and trusted or protected areas of memory and storage. In the Java approach, each application runs in a separate guarded Sandbox environment, creating problems for more involved forms of interaction. The OSGi approach allows multiple applications to live in a common Sandbox, potentially sharing data beyond the user s control.
